What is a
healthy lifestyle? Many of us are actually oblivious to the phrase ‘a healthy
lifestyle’. A healthy lifestyle would include physical health and psychological
health which can be attained through exercising, good eating habits and to
avoid drinking and smoking.
One way of
having good health is to have a strong body. Fitness is a way of prolonging
good health. Being athletics is always a god sign of a fit person. This,
however, does not mean that only footballers, basketball players and sports
fanatics are the only ones that are fit. Even couch potatoes can be fit simply
by doing exercises like jogging, swimming, cycling and walking.
Good health
also means a good diet and good eating habits. One must not indulge in food like
bees to honey. Be selective but not too choosy on the type of food you eat.
Take less oily food for oil will generate fat. Too much fat will clog up your
blood capillaries and then a multitude of illnesses like high blood pressure,
heart attack and stroke can follow. Now, the next time you decide to go for
supper late at night you might want to think twice. This does not mean that there
should be no more cakes of fish head curry and other mouth watering food. It just
means compromise. If you are going to have a lot of oil and calories for lunch, have some salad
for dinner then.
Avoid bad
habits like drinking too much or smoking. Smoking is not only unhealthy but
unhygienic. A smoker smells and his breath stinks. Besides yellow teeth full of
plaque are not attractive at all. Too much drinking is also not good for health
and it destroys the liver.
So, my point
in all this is, to have a healthy lifestyle there needs to be balance in
whatever you do. Too much and too little of one thing can be bad. Good health
is acquired through exercises, a healthy diet and stay away from alcohol and
cigarettes. Practicing good health is apt to the age-old adage ‘Health is
Wealth”.
