In particular, quality affects a firm in the following ways.
1. Improved profitability:
Improved quality results in improved profitability due to potential increase in market share as well as cost savings. The cost savings are a result of lower rework and scrap costs, less wastage and lower warranty costs. The increase in market share is a result of higher volume in sales. People are willing to pay higher prices for better quality and hence it improves the profitability of the company.
2. Image and reputation of the company:
Quality products not only promote the products but also the company. An organization can expect its reputation for quality – good or bad – to follow it. Based on quality, people develop certain perceptions about the firm’s new products, employment practices, and concerns for consumers.
3. Product liability:

Well-run factories are imperative to the success of any consumer goods companies, and even to the well-being of whole economies. Companies can corner whole markets by recognizing a viable product and acquiring or constructing a factory to focus on specialised, mass production.
While a factory is a huge investment with equally huge maintenance costs, these locations are used to manufacture and sell in bulk, cutting overall production costs to a minimum. Not only do these companies cut back on costs, but their factories also allow for reasonably cheap labor and create employment, especially when constructed or acquired near towns.
Walmart, the most notorious – and largest – discount store in the United States, has numerous massive-scale distribution centers to cater to its 11,088 locations. Its rival, Target, has four import distribution centers to cater to its import needs. Hyundai and Volkswagen have the largest automobile plants in the world, as a way to give themselves the competitive edge in expanding and increasing their production output.
Typically, those institutions and companies with the largest factories also are similarly some of the largest and most influential names in the world. The following are the 7 largest factories in the world, and the names behind them.
Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant
Area = 204 km2  (79.77 sq mi) / Population = 122,457 / GDP = $128,000 (2013)
Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant - Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant has produced over 40 million cars over the years. It is the largest auto plant in the world, covering a whooping 6,500,000 m². This imposing factory is so huge that floor workers are allowed to use bicycles to make their way around. What’s more fascinating about this factory is that the employees can be working on more than five different cars at a time without compromising on efficiency or quality.
The factory also possesses the largest state of the art European paint shop. It’s the first paint shop to use eco-friendly water-based paint.
The Hyundai Motor Company’s Ulsan Factory - The Hyundai Motor Company’s Ulsan manufacturing facility occupies a total space of 5,050,000 m². This South Korean plant is spread over 1,225 acres of land. It has five distinct production plants and is able to produce a car every 12 seconds. That’s equivalent to an impressive 1.53 million units annually.
The site is so large that it houses its own hospital, fire services, road network, and sewage treatment plant. The Hyundai Motor Company’s Ulsan factory also boasts over 500,000 trees and an exclusive pier with a capacity of hosting three 50,000-ton cargo ships at a time.
Aalsmeer Flower Auction Building - Technically not a mainstream factory, Aalsmeer Flower Auction building is the largest building in the world in terms of its real estate space: It covers a gigantic 518,000 m² and is home to the largest flower auction worldwide. The building is 740m long and 700m wide.
Approximately 25 million flowers from countries such as Kenya, Colombia, Ethiopia and Ecuador are traded here on a daily basis. The building covers 243 acres, which is arguably the most fragrant edifice in the world. Flowers are rigorously checked for perfection before they are sold. Sales increase dramatically during holidays such as Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day.
Tesla Factory - Elon Musk’s Tesla Company has been all the rage of late. Tesla Motors focuses solely on the production of electric cars and electric powertrain components. Situated in Fremont, California, this expansive automobile car production facility has a footprint of 510,000 m².
Tesla didn’t build this factory from the ground up. Instead, they bought a factory formerly owned by General Motors and Toyota known as New United Motor Manufacturing. Tesla reportedly paid $42 million for the space and took over in 2010. The Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Roadster are manufactured in this plant.
The Boeing Factory in Everett - Everett, Washington is home to the largest Boeing facility in the world. The Boeing Everett Factory has a mind-blowing floor area of 398,000 m². It covers 98.3 acres of land, and it is the location where the Boeing 747, 767, and 777 are made. The assembly of the newly launched 787 Dreamliner also takes place here.
Construction of the factory began in 1966 after Pan American World Airways placed an order for 25 747s valued at $525 million. This factory also features Tully’s coffee stands, cafes, a theatre and the Boeing Store. Boeing also allows factory tours through the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour.
Mitsubishi Motors North America - Founded in 1981, Mitsubishi Motors North America oversees the manufacturing, production, sales, research and development of the Mitsubishi car brand across the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada through a well-developed network of over 700 car dealers.
To keep up with this demand, the company has put up a massive 220,000 m² factory that mainly deals with the Mitsubishi Outlander. It has also produced other cars such as the Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse, Eclipse Spyder, Endeavor and Chrysler Sebring. This gargantuan factory is located in Normal, Illinois.
Belvidere Assembly Plant - Located in Illinois, United States, Belvidere Assembly Plant is a Chrysler factory that assembles car brands such as the Jeep Compass, the Jeep Patriot and the Dodge Dart. The plant has also assembled past models such as Dodge Caliber, Chrysler Imperial, Dodge Dynasty, Chrysler New Yorker and the Plymouth Neon.
The plant measures 330,000 m² and is 700m long and 300m wide spread over 280 acres of land. Its labor force mainly consists of robots, with its body shop hosting approximately 780 robots.

The law of supply and demand primarily affects the oil industry by determining the price of oil. The price, and expectations about the price, of oil are the major determining factors in how companies in the oil industry allocate their resources. Prices create certain incentives that influence behavior; this behavior eventually feeds back into supply and demand to determine the price of oil.
Crude oil, or “black gold,” is one of the world's most precious commodities: its price affects the economic ecosystem at every level, from family budgets to corporate earnings to the nation's GDP. Crude oil prices are also incredibly sensitive, changing quickly in response to news cycles, policy changes, and fluctuations in the world's markets, and price drops and spikes can send global exchanges into a tizzy.
The price of gas affects a variety of goods and services because many economic activities use oil as an energy source.  No one likes to pay higher prices, but the global oil market is more complicated than most people realize, and the price of oil is dependent upon many different factors.
If an oil-rich area becomes politically unstable, supplier markets react by bidding up the price of oil so that supplies are still available to the highest bidder.  In this instance, only the perception of a shortage in supply can increase prices, even while production levels remains constant.

Oil shows up in thousands of places besides your car's fuel tank and engine. It's true that most oil is used as a source of energy in the United States and that's not likely to change anytime soon.
The average barrel of oil yields the following: gasoline (42%), diesel (20%), jet fuel (9%), heating oil (4.5%), heavy fuel oil (4.5%), liquefied petroleum gases (4.5%) and other products (16%).
1. Medicine - Petroleum is used in many of the medical products we take for granted. Visit any hospital or doctor's office and you will find these items that are derived from petroleum: heart valves, artificial limbs, stethoscopes, syringes, hearing aids, vaporizers, anesthetics, antiseptics, operating gloves and equipment tubing.
2. Plastic - Plastic is everywhere, and this carbon-based polymer compound is an essential part of everyd In addition, plastic is used in a wide range of products that require shaping and molding. These include computer housings, toys, eyeglass lenses, shingles, computer disks, athletic shoes and thousands of other products.
3. Around the House - Look in your closet and you will find clothing made from petroleum-based fibers including rayon, nylon, polyester and artificial furs. Look down at your floors and you will likely find petroleum in the form of carpet, linoleum or other synthetic flooring. The kitchen is stocked with lots of products that rely on petroleum: appliance casings, dishware, cooking utensils, ammonia, glue, tape, ink, candles, matches, shoe polish, dishwashing liquid and many other cleaning products.
4. In the Garage - It's more than the gas in your car that is impacted by crude oil prices. Under the hood are several other petroleum-based products that keep your car running smoothly and efficiently including hoses, wiring, antifreeze, transmission fluid, brake fluid, grease and motor oil. Beyond the lubricants, car interiors have many parts made from petroleum. Other items in the garage that depend on oil include your lawnmower, bicycle, fertilizer, garden hose and that leftover paint in the corner. When you pull the car out of the garage and head down your driveway, you may be driving over asphalt that is a byproduct of petroleum.
5. Transportation - While rising oil prices have a direct impact when you buy gas for your vehicle, the indirect impact is felt throughout the economy. When an airline pays more for jet fuel, that cost may be passed on to consumers in the form of higher ticket prices or fuel surcharges. When the railroad and trucks that deliver food to the supermarket pay more for diesel fuel, the added cost shows up during checkout when you pay for your groceries.
The tankers that bring the oil to the U.S. from other foreign sources are paying more for their fuel too. When oil goes up, in a sense we end up paying for the increase twice – once for the raw product and again to get it here so we can refine and use it.
6. Business - Depending on the type of business they are engaged in, companies will be impacted by rising oil prices in a variety of ways: (1) Higher fuel and lubricant costs to run machinery and vehicles (2) Higher bills for heating oil and other energy produced by burning oil (3) Pay more for packaging (4) Retail businesses that rely on customers coming to them by car may experience a drop-off in customer volume and thus reduced demand (5) Businesses that rely on discretionary spending, such as travel destinations, will see fewer visitors.

Taxes
The government collects taxes to pay for the goods and services it provides including schools, roads, law enforcement, libraries, parks and military protection.
Definition/Background By definition, taxes shift resources from the private sector (households and businesses) to the public sector.
A fee charged ("levied") by a government on a product, income, or activity. If tax is levied directly on personal or corporate income, then it is a direct tax. If tax is levied on the price of a good or service, then it is called an indirect tax.
The purpose of the shift is to pay for the goods, services, and government operations that we, through our elected representatives, ask government to provide.

What is Quality?
Quality is the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind or the degree of excellence of something.
According to business excellent, Quality is referred to how the recipient of the product or service views the product or service: before buying, upon delivery, and after the delivery-and use.
In manufacturing, a measure of excellence or a state of being free from defects, deficiencies and significant variations. It is brought about by strict and consistent commitment to certain standards that achieve uniformity of a product in order to satisfy specific customer or user requirements. ISO 8402-1986 standard defines quality as "the totality of features and characteristics of a product or service that bears its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs." If an automobile company finds a defect in one of their cars and makes a product recall, customer reliability and therefore production will decrease because trust will be lost in the car's quality.
On factory floors all over the world, attention to quality in product-manufacturing operations now determines market success. Attention to quality in the operations used to produce engineering designs--in other words, attention to the data produced by digital modeling activities - is proving to be equally fruitful. Practitioners of design quality assurance are reaping great benefits by pushing quality awareness earlier into the engineering process.
As a rule, design engineering has lagged behind the shop floor in awareness of product and process quality. Unfortunately, very real costs are associated with inattention to design quality. If errors or omissions in design data are not addressed early, more costly changes are required later in the product development process.
For example, a major aerospace company recently discovered that it was losing millions of dollars as a result of inaccurate digital design data. Product quality on the manufacturing floor was high, and customers were receiving excellent finished products.
Warranty/Product Guarantee
A guarantee is usually given with the product you are buying, for free. It is a promise from the trader or manufacturer that they will repair or replace the item, or give you a refund, if it becomes faulty within a certain amount of time.
A guarantee is an agreement from the manufacturer confirming that they will repair or replace an item if something goes wrong within a certain amount of time after you buy it.
Household products like electrical and kitchen appliances and furniture often come with a guarantee.
A guarantee gives you additional protection and strengthens your consumer rights. The guarantee usually applies to the item during a specific time after you purchase it.
Guarantees can also apply to services, for example, installation and repair services in your home can have a guarantee.
Check the terms and conditions
Always check the terms and conditions of the guarantee. For example, you may need to register the guarantee with the manufacturer for certain conditions to be met. Unless you are expressly told otherwise when you bought the item, deal directly with the seller of the item if you need to return it under the guarantee.
Don’t forget the small print
The guarantee might explain what happens if you give or sell the item to somebody else during the guarantee period. Find out exactly what is covered by the guarantee. For example, with electrical goods, are all parts or just specific parts covered? Is labour included and is there a limit on the amount of labour covered.
Warranties
When you are buying a product, the shop may ask if you would like to buy a warranty. This is like an insurance policy - it covers the product beyond the manufacturer's guarantee period.
So, you shouldn’t have to pay for repairs if the item breaks or becomes faulty within the period covered by the warranty.

Before you agree to a warranty, remember:  
(1) It is completely optional and can be expensive, so do not feel pressured to take one. 
(2) Consider the cost of replacing the faulty item and compare this to the cost of the warranty. Replacing the item may cost less than the warranty. 
(3) Guarantees and warranties are legally binding on the company – they are enforceable through the courts if necessary.

Quality of Life (QOL) is the general well-being of individuals and societies. QOL has a wide range of contexts, including the fields of international development, healthcare, politics and employment. It is important not to mix up the concept of QOL with a more recent growing area of health related QOL (HRQOL). When we look at HRQOL we in effect look at QOL and its relationship with health.

It may also be used as a measure of the energy and power a person is endowed with that enable him or her to enjoy life and prevail over life's challenges irrespective of the handicaps he or she may have.
But one of the most interesting themes regarding the holistic concept of well-being is the quality of life and happiness and its relationships to travel and tourism. Quality of life implies a balance of these different domains. Much of the time, it is impossible to change the objective indicators and these may or may not affect peoples’ levels of satisfaction and stress.

Low-Carb Diet
A low-carb diet aims to replace simple carbohydrates which are easily digestible with complex carbohydrates rich in fibre.
A typical low-carb diet should contain about 30-40% of complex carbs, more than 20% of protein and less than 40% of healthy fats.
Tips for a low-carb diet
Cook a meat or fish-based main dish (eat more protein).
Replace bread, potatoes or white rice with extra vegetables and brown rice.
Have a handful of nuts e.g. almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds as a snack.
Choose whole fruits and consume in moderation.
Limit intake of brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, molasses and artificial sweeteners.
Add beans, lentils and peas to your diet.

Low-Fat Diet
A low-fat diet places emphasis on complex carbohydrates (50-55%), contains more than 20% of protein and is low in fats (less than 30%).
Fats are not eliminated entirely but reduced to comprise less than 30% of the total diet.
Tips for a low fat diet
Choose lean meats, fish and chicken for a main dish.
Include low-fat sources of protein in your diet - dried beans and peas, tofu, low fat milk, low fat cheese.
Bake, poach or grill meats and let the fat drip away.
Use herbs and spices to flavor meat instead of butter, cheese and cream sauces.
Avoid deep frying foods.
Minimise full-fat dairy and full-fat meat.
